About Our Data

To ensure accuracy, we relied primarily on data from official sources. Linkedin as a source only represents 23.5% of our data. Using Linkedin Premium Recruiter, we also made sure to verify profiles to make sure our sample does not include fake profiles posted to Linkedin, of which there are many. Other organizations, publications, or websites posting placement data recently have often relied almost extensively on a basic search of Linkedin public data (often inaccurately pre-tallied), often not differentiating between undergraduate and graduate students or ensuring that they actually attended the listed institutions in their profiles.

Our placement data in the medical field comes overwhelmingly from medical residency official website biographies, which are publicly available – and represents actual recent graduates practicing as resident physicians. For law, our data comes most extensively from law firm website associate biographies, and includes only the most prestigious, elite, and high paying firms, often referred to as “BIGLAW” or selective, boutique firms. For MBA programs, we relied mostly on resume books that are available to campus recruiting professionals.
