When we refer to a "feeder" or "feeder school" what we mean is a school that sends a large proportion of students or graduates to a particular subsequent school or a school that makes up a large percentage of students at the school it is 'feeding' into. For many it suggests an advantage in gaining admission to a given educational institution. Often defined as a "tributary," something supplying something to something else, reflecting some form of transmission or a "school from which members move on to," etc. - it is a term often used in education when discussing placement, matriculation, and education statistics. We something is a "feeder" it generally means or represents a large constituency by number or percentage. It is also sometimes a way of describing an educational journey in a broader sense.
